Well this has been a nice little burst of summer hasn’t it? It cooled down over the weekend, but boy it was nice while we had it. Whether this becomes a regular thing for us or it was a thing of the past, it sure does put the pressure on to be ready for summer. Being bathing suit ready or even shorts and skirts ready. Another part that goes into hibernation over the winter is our toes! I don’t know about everyone else but that little burst of summer made it hard for me to
choose a shoe. There were a couple of days that I could have just slipped on some sandals and would have wanted too, because the ballet flats have shown to be tad too tight while being preggo. Yikes. But other than being in the comfort of my own
back yard, I knew my feet/toes weren’t quite ready. Most people that I know are choosing where they get there pedicures very wisely these days. You want to go somewhere you can trust that things are being cleaned properly. Plus pedicures can get pricey! I’m saving for a baby so I have to choose my spending wisely and also for myself I am not in love with the strong scent that surrounds you while there. Especially while being pregnant I would prefer not to inhale the chemys. I have
been looking up ways to pedicure at home with natural ingredients and have
found that most ideas are similar, simple and cost effective. I tried this last week when the sun was shining into our world and found it to very easy (except for the reach over the belly) and quick, my 2 favourite things. Im sure you all have an array of colours just waiting to be used so let’s get this done.
Things you will need:
Brown Sugar and Oil (olive or any kind really) mix together
Baking Soda or Epsom salts
Nail clippers and file
Your favourite spring nail colour
A tub
-
Clip nails straight across and give them a quick
file so there is no jagged edges -
Fill tub with warm to hot water and add some
baking soda or Epsom salts and soak those puppies (this where you would use a
cuticle remover as well, but I don’t get that fancy) -
Slather your feet in the brown sugar and oil
mix, use as a scrub to exfoliate and once
your done soak them in the water again -
Dry off your feet and apply your favourite cream
to moisturize your feet (I tried the Vaseline in the socks over night one time,
which I got from Miranda from Sex and the City and it worked spectacularly) -
Apply colour!
If you want to use one of those toe stretchers to separate by all means,
I don’t like them very much. They make me feel like my toes are leaving me. I
use cotton swabs or even a narrowly folded piece of paper towel and weave
around the toes.
Done and done.
Happy Spring!
