Breakfast is extremely important and for those who don’t have the time to think of healthy options for breakfast, here are a few ideas to help you switch it up. Making sure that you are not having the same old breakfast everyday will help assist you in getting a variety of nutrients. A variety of nutrients is key to a healthy lifestyle!
Smoothie – A great smoothie is berries such as blueberries mixed with banana, almond milk and if you can tolerate dairy, some yogurt. Tasty!
Protein Shake – Good quality protein shake. An alternative to whey protein powder is Heartland Gold sprouted, non GMO Brown Rice Protein. Blend this with some fresh fruit of your choice (banana, mango, pineapple and melon). For the ”on the go” lifestyle, organic frozen fruits are a great alternative. Add rice or almond milk, water or a good quality juice. This is easy and can jump start your day!
Veggie Scramble – 2 eggs with your choice of seasonal vegetables (Bell peppers, spinach, zucchini, chives and garlic if you wish) sautéed in coconut butter. Crumbled goat cheese is a nice addition to this breakfast idea as well. Pre chopping your vegetables can make this breakfast idea easier on a sleepy morning!
Granola, flax and yogurt – your choice of organic yogurt (Liberte is a great brand) or if you want to switch things up, try goat yogurt with some honey. Your choice of organic granola (be sure to check ingredients and watch for sugar and sodium content) and 1 – 2 teaspoons of ground flax. Make this classic your own and add in fresh or dried fruits and/or nuts and seeds!
